Corporate Responsibility
OUR VALUES
Our values lay the groundwork for our approach to sustainability, as well as ensuring that the people behind our products are treated with fairness and respect. Our values fall into four major categories:
People First
We believe that our company has limitless potential, driven by our associates and their imagination, passion and commitment. We work to create an environment that attracts great talent, and we seek to motivate, inspire and recognize high performance.
Customers
Our customers inspire everything we do. They provide us with many of our best ideas, and we see their trust as something we need to earn every day. Answering their needs is about more than business for us; it's a calling. Without our customers, nothing else matters.
Quality
We seek to make lasting quality the signature of our company. To us, what we create is personal, just as it is for our customers. We take pride in the quality not only of our products but our relationships with our associates, business partners, customers and the community.
Shareholders
All of our values support our success as a company. We are committed to this success, and to providing a superior return to our shareholders. It is a collective responsibility, and we believe that who we are as a company is fundamental to our ability to thrive and continue to grow.
OUR RESPONSIBLITY
In recent years, we have deepened our focus on sustainability in many parts of our company. For example, we have looked at how we source the raw materials in our products, as well as how we can open up new market opportunities for artisans in the developing world. We see ourselves as being at the start of a journey that we have committed to for the long term.
Below are important policies that form the foundation for our approach. We commit to updating this site as we continue to develop sustainability initiatives across our business.
Ethical Sourcing
Williams-Sonoma, Inc., and our brands are committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity throughout our business. We work to ensure that our business associates -- including agents and suppliers -- share our commitment to socially responsible practices. We work with suppliers who meet the highest standards for safe, healthy work conditions, and whose employment practices conform with local law, best industry practices and our company standards. These include a strict prohibition against child labor, prison or forced labor, unsafe working conditions, or unfair wage practices. All of our suppliers are required to sign and abide by our Code of Conduct.
Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
Williams-Sonoma, Inc. recognizes that we have a responsibility to ensure that slavery and human trafficking do not exist in our supply chain. In adherence to the disclosure requirements of the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act, below are the actions we take to meet this commitment.
- We have assessed our product supply chain to evaluate and address risks of human trafficking and slavery.
- Our suppliers are evaluated by independent third party audits, first party factory reviews, and supplier questionnaires to confirm that no forced labor, slavery or human trafficking of any kind is employed in the making of our products. We conduct both announced and unannounced audits with factories to verify compliance.
- All of our suppliers are required to certify that they comply with slavery and human trafficking laws in the country or countries where they are doing business.
- Our policy is to terminate relationships with suppliers who are not in compliance with prohibitions against trafficking or forced labor.
- Employees with supply chain responsibilities are provided training on human trafficking and slavery and are required to comply with our Code of Conduct.
